The Dow Jones industrial average closed up 120.81 points, or 0.69 percent, to 17,602.3, the S&P 500 gained 8.97 points, or 0.44 percent, to 2,049.56 and the Nasdaq Composite had added 20.66 points, or 0.43 percent, to 4,795.65.

gain as Fed stance keeps $ under pressure
Spot gold gained around half a percent to USD 1,263.30 an ounce by 0711 GMT, while US gold was little changed at USD 1,264.30 an ounce. Spot gold has risen more than 1 percent this week after closing down 0.9 percent in the previous week.
